Great news! Council Member Robert Jackson (D-Manhattan), right, Chair of the City Council Education Committee, is now a co-sponsor of the HEART/LOHV-NYC humane education resolution (Reso. 497)! Jackson's support for this resolution will prove tremendously helpful in getting it passed.Reso. 497 calls on the Department of Education to issue a memorandum to all NYC public schools to help increase compliance with New York State's humane education law. If passed, Reso. 497 -- along with full implementation of the humane education mandate -- will help to cultivate a whole new generation of humane and civic-minded citizens.
