What: Join LOHV-NYC as we rally to save Whole Earth Bakery and Kitchen from eviction! The bakery's been a beloved part of the L.E.S. community for 16 years. Show your support! We'll be joined by our friends N.Y.S. Assemblyman Brian Kavanagh, Manhattan Council Member Rosie Mendez and Rev. Billy of the Church of Stop Shopping in calling on the landlord to renew their lease.

What: Join us as 2006 LOHV-NYC candidate Brian Kavanagh is sworn in as a new member of the New York State Legislature. Brian defeated former Assemblywoman Sylvia Friedman by 374 votes in last year's Democratic primary. LOHV-NYC revealed last summer that Ringling Bros. Circus had singled Friedman out and sent her a $350 check.

What: Help stop the Horse & Carriage Association of NY (and the taxi industry) from banning the competition! Efforts are currently underway to ban pedicabs from public parks, cap the total number of pedicabs to 300 (less than the current 450), and ban electrically-assisted pedicabs (making it harder for the drivers to work). Join LOHV-NYC, civil rights attorney Norman Siegel and the Pedicab Owners Association for a massive rally on the steps of City Hall. Expect a small army of 50 pedicabs to circle the City Hall area. Attendance is crucial. LOHV-NYC expects a vote on proposed pedicab legislation near the end of February.
