Assemblywoman takes circus cash

In a review of recent Board of Elections campaign filings, LOHV-NYC has uncovered that incumbent Assemblywoman Sylvia Friedman has taken a $350 donation from Feld Entertainment, the owner of the cruelest show on Earth, Ringling Bros. & Barnum Bailey Circus. According to information made available today to LOHV-NYC, Friedman is the only candidate this year receiving Ringling cash.

Ringling must not be allowed to win! With just 11 days until the Sept. 12 primary, we need your help now more than ever to help humane candidate Brian Kavanagh win against Friedman. Volunteers are needed immediately every day until until the 12th. Of course, make sure you get out and vote for Brian if you live in the lower east side area. Help spread the word to friends that live in the area. This may be the closest and most important race of the year for us. More information on Brian can be found here. If you would like to help, give us a call at (212) 889-0303. See undercover footage from Ringling Bros. circus after the jump and learn where Friedman's getting her money...

Leo:

I think it is terrible that this candidate is so insensitive as to receive money from a cruel organization that harms animals in the guise of contributing to "family fun". Terrible. How about supporting something else? How about bringing some Vegan Awareness ..or Vegan Family fun ..or Recycling Can Be Fun.. or Making Games from Recycled things event to Madison Square Garden? Please! And, so many people would be proud of that.. a candidate who did that could win a lot of Green votes.. anyway, I'm going on and on, the point is, she should send the money back!
